About the Class:

Embark on a journey of creativity and craftsmanship with Alex Macey, a seasoned local stone mason, as your guide.

Unleash your artistic potential as you carve a 2D image of your own choosing into the canvas of stone. Guided by our experienced stonemason, you'll master fundamental masonry skills and refine your technique in a supportive and inspiring atmosphere.

Whether you're a complete novice or a seasoned artist, this hands-on workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the intricate world of stone carving. Discover the beauty of transforming raw stone into a masterpiece, and leave with not just a tangible creation, but with newfound skills and inspiration to fuel your creative journey.

About your Tutor:

Alex is a qualified and experienced stonemason based in Ripon.

He apprenticed as a banker mason (carving stone to a templet) and worked at William Anelays and various smaller masonry firms in York.

He has been self employed for 18 years where he accomplished plenty of stone repairs, restorations and repointing with traditional lime mortar, usually on listed buildings. He has undertaken many commissions such as Green Man carvings, fireplaces, replacement plaques and a variety of lettering commissions.


What’s Included:

  • All materials and equipment.

  • Qualified and experienced Tutor.

  • You will be greeted with a hot tea or coffee and pastries on arrival, drinks are provided throughout the day.

Most people attend these workshops alone and make friends with like-minded people on the day, so please don’t worry about coming solo!


CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING POLICY

Cancellations one month before the event are eligible for a full refund.

Cancellations between one calendar month and 14 days before the event are non refundable but are applicable for rescheduling or you are free to send a substitute participant. 

Cancellations up to and including 14 days before the event are non refundable. However you are free to send a substitute participant.

If we need to cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances we will aim to give as much notice as possible and a full refund. We cannot accept any liability for travel or other costs.
